Do you produce biodiesel for commercial purposes
using the trans-esterification (chemical) process? Are you planning to do so in the
future?
If the answer is yes then your activity may be regulated by the Environment Agency under
the Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Regulations 2000. You are required to apply for
a PPC Permit in order to operate under the regulation of the Environment Agency and in
accordance with UK legislation. If youre a small to medium scale operator, you may
qualify for a low impact status. The fees and charges you pay are reduced to
reflect the fact that your environmental impact is low.
Wardell Armstrong provides consultancy services and advice to many clients in a variety of
sectors seeking PPC Permits, including applications to facilitate the production of
biodiesel. We can provide you with the level of assistance you need, from an initial
meeting to point you in the right direction to a full proposal for preparing and
submitting your PPC application for you.
